View allAbout Kiku Handmade
Hi, I'm Laurie Freivogel, the artist behind Kiku Handmade. I am a self-taught glass artist making screen printed, fused glass home goods. I started Kiku Handmade in the spring of 2004, in a tiny basement studio just outside Chicago, Illinois. Initially, I was primarily making small jewelry pieces and belt buckles. About a year into my hobby, I went about teaching myself to integrate the screen printing process, so that I could incorporate a more graphic nature to the medium. In the last ten years or so, I've moved to bigger, more contemporary coasters, platters, bowls, and more, each printed by hand with my graphic designs, botanical drawings, pop-culture icons + quintessential city landmarks. Here on my website, you’ll find goods from quirky coasters to sophisticated serving pieces, or I can work with you to create custom pieces!
